At Invicta Fitness, we empower our clients to conquer their personal limitations. Invicta, meaning “unconquered” or “victorious” in Latin, is what we help our clients become, as they achieve new levels of fitness, and develop greater confidence in their own abilities to conquer all of life’s challenges. We believe that fitness is a lifestyle, a […]
So a little background: Have always struggled keeping a consistent workout routine. I’ve been vigilant about “hitting the gym,” owned and used workout DVDs, etc. all with some success. But when I started working out at Invicta in January of this year, I truly felt for the first time that I was really getting a great workout. It starts with a sobering assessment of your physical plant: You step on their body comp machine and get a true analysis of your body fat, muscle mass, resting metabolic rate, etc. Once that’s done they tailor a workout program for you that targets your areas of weakness. I needed to reduce body fat and increase muscle mass, so we started emphasizing dead lifts, squats, kettlebells, bench press. All of this mixed in with stretching, pushups, curls, rowing, plyometric work. Three times a week, 60 solid minutes, 20 fleeting seconds between sets to catch your breath and get a quick drink. But that’s it. No sitting on some stupid, germ covered machine at 24 Hour Fitness, allowing yourself 5 minutes between sets, looking at your iPhone, checking people out. Or worse yet – waiting for some steroided out weirdo to relinquish his claim on the set of dumbbells you need.
It works. You feel wiped out after a workout – but you also feel great. And between my first body comp analysis and my last (a span of three months) I lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 6 pounds of muscle. So I only lost 4 pounds in 3 months – but when you drill down with the data Invicta provides, you see how the number that is your weight in the abstract means little. It’s the whole picture that you need to assess and work on.
There’s the old saying: What gets measured gets managed. Invicta measures it and helps you manage it. And the facility is awesome – great sound system, brand new, top shelf equipment. And clean – cleaner than any gym you’ve been to. And of course, the trainers. No drama – just work.
Do it. Worth every penny.
